Official Bio

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Kwanza earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics (cum laude) in 1992 from Spelman College. Prior to relocating to Exuma, Kwanza was the vice president of a travel and ticket brokerage agency in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Kwanza received her Certified Travel Counselor (CTC) professional training from The Travel Institute and Accredited Cruise Counselor (ACC) specialization from the Cruise Lines Industry Association (CLIA). and is a Sandals Certified Specialist. As professional travel consultant and ticket broker, Kwanza already had a passion for creating memorable experiences for people. Among her duties were creating, planning and organizing group travel events for corporate incentives, students and families.

Kwanza was professionally trained by and is a Certified Wedding Specialist of Weddings Beautiful Worldwide. Kwanza is a Bahamas Destination Specialist and graduate of The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism’s Bahamahost Programme, and is a tourism partner of Bahamas Ministry of Tourism’s Exuma Tourist Office. Her extensive experience in planning group travel events, transportation logistics and details were ideal skills to transfer to the wedding planning business because of the attention to detail required to make a bride’s wedding dreams come true. Her expertise in catering and food and beverage are essential in planning receptions. Kwanza brings love, excitement, skill and understanding to her bride and groom. Her dedication, enthusiasm and commitment to her clients are evident in her caring approach and friendly attitude. When coordinating weddings and receptions, Kwanza generously shares her vast knowledge to transform your visions into reality.

Kwanza is an enthusiastic supporter of her community through her involvement and sponsorship of various local events. Kwanza, a lifetime member of the National Alumnae Association of Spelman College, initiated the formation of the South Florida Chapter of NAASC and served as its very first president. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, a worldwide service organization, Eta Psi Omega Chapter in Nassau, Bahamas. When Kwanza is not planning private island weddings and events for her clients, you can find her indulging in one of her personal interests: spending time with family, walking, reading, keeping up with wedding trends, designing new merchandise, healthy cooking and eating, entertaining friends, listening to jazz music, and traveling. She is also a blog and forum junkie. Kwanza lives on the island of Great Exuma with her husband KB and their son and daughter.
